I also had the same idea as you. I used sort004.jcl to write the output to p3.output (# 10) and had the following error:
11 BYTE RECORD LENGTH IS NOT EQUAL TO 80 BYTE LRECL FOR BAD
Perhaps the secret lies in the description of the challenge, 11 bytes is not enhancing the length of the field, but the bcd position within each useful byte. If so each byte would fit 2 digits bcd!

Hi KEVIN!
Hi KEVIN!
I HAVE THE SAME DOUBTS THAT YOU ARE NOW UNABLE TO SEND THIS TOOLMSG REPORT TO P3.OUTPUT (# 10). I HAVE ALREADY MAKED VARIOUS ATTEMPTS, BUT I ALSO AGREE WITH YOU THAT LIMITING SENDING THROUGH XDC WAS NOT THE BEST IDEA !

Hi Anonymous

VERIFY produces a return code 12 as a result of finding invalid packed decimal. So MAXCC 12 is correct. Yes indeed, we only need the TOOLMSG report and then copy that to P3.OUTPUT(#10).

Kind regards

I used the exact same solution, do we only need the report on TOOLMSG?
The JCL will always return MAXCC = 12 like this right?

Hi Anon, from the primary ISPF menu enter the primary command =3.4 then instead of filtering dsname by your zID just enter 'ZOS.MTM2018.PUBLIC.PACKED' in that line. Like this https://kevindurant.be/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/public-packed.png :)
